So Long and see you soon Heather x

2nd August 2024

On Tuesday, we said so long, farewell and see you soon to Heather, our Wellbeing Co-ordinator, Dementia & Memory Loss.

In a six-minute speech, her Manager Jayne, produced a prop or two, including a large chocolate Number 1 and a ‘Nagometer’, adding some humour to what was an emotional farewell. Her colleague Sarah made her a card, highlighting what we described as Heather’s nemesis … IT.

Heather has been a truly wonderful team member, working oh so hard and bringing so much joy to her clients and their families. Heather has created a wonderful spirit at the Memory Cafe with her merry band of lovely volunteers.

Heather said, “I  will miss everyone. I’m not really leaving Moorland – I will continue to volunteer at the Memory Cafe, starting next week!

With bucket loads of experience and enthusiasm, Heather improved the Dementia Service, widening its impact, improving its reach and stamping, if not dancing upon it, a true professionalism. Heather brought with her, beautiful Frank, the family Therapy Dog, who has put a smile on many faces and shared in a ‘How much is that doggy in the window’ tune or two!! Her husband Chas was also part of her Team, baking cakes for every Memory Cafe session.

Heather’s time at Moorland has been rich in achievement. She has written her signature on this Charity. We all thank her for her love and light and know, that despite being so very sad at her leaving, she is, at last, putting herself and Chas first, as they turn the page to the chapter entitled Retirement.

Jayne’s Nagometer!

The Trustees, Clients past and present, wider teams within the NHS and Social Care, Volunteers and Team,  wish Heather a happy, healthy retirement……oh and we will see her next week at the Memory Café!!!!!
